The Cashel Palace Hotel, a landmark destination in the heart of County Tipperary, underwent a major transformation to restore its grandeur while creating a world-class luxury hospitality experience. MFM Joinery was entrusted with delivering bespoke joinery solutions that combined timeless elegance with the durability required in a busy hotel environment.

Scope of Work
MFM Joinery was contracted by Mulcahy Contractors and collaborated closely with David Reddy of Smallwood architects, and Una Ni Mhearain of Consarc Conservation to produce tailored joinery across multiple key areas.
Conservation and refurbishment of the main house sash windows
All original Windows and shutters were refurbished in line with good conservation practice, retaining as many of the original components as possible.

Conservation and refurbishment of the main house doors.
Due to its prominent position in the building, the main front entrance door was a critical component of the conservation works to be carried out. The door had fallen into very poor condition over the years, mainly due to improper repair and maintenance. Before any work commenced, MFM Joinery completed a full conservation survey of the original door set, which detailed to the design & conservation teams the works required to return the door to its original condition, both aesthetically and operationally. Following acceptance of the survey, MFM proceed to carry out the works in line with good methods of conservation. This involved incorporating as many components of the original door and surround as possible, eventually returning the complete door set to its original glory.

BM Trada site specific assessment
The heritage status of the Cashel Palace Hotel meant working within strict conservation guidelines. MFM Joinery had to balance traditional craftsmanship with modern functionality and required fire resistance, ensuring every element complemented the building’s historic character while meeting current building regulations.
Because of the design of the original internal doors, combining such intricate designs with the todays fire door requirements proved very challenging. No “Field of Application” allowed for the design and ironmongery required by the design team. Therefore, in collaboration with BM TRADA, MFM Joinery obtained a “Site Specific Fire Door Assessment”.
This involved the production of many detailed shop drawings of the numinous door designs required, and continuous communication between the design team and BM Trada over a number of weeks to ensuring all requirements were achieved.
